Billy Joel to play Shea's last show

Say goodbye to Hollywood, say goodbye to Shea.  At least that’s what Billy Joel plans to do.  The singer will be the last artist to play at New York’s Shea Stadium with a July 16th concert titled, The Last Play at Shea, From the Beatles to Billy.  The home of the Mets closes its doors at the end of the season when the team moves to their new venue at Citi Field.  Since Shea was built, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Police, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen have all played the Queens stadium.  In fact, when Joel performs his show, he’ll become the only person to have ever played both Shea as well as Yankee Stadium.  The gig will also be the first in-season concert at the ballpark since Clapton and John played there during the 1992 season.  In the meantime, Joel is heading out for a brief tour at the end of February.
