Dave Hood is the host of the K-Hits Morning Show.
He is also the creator and star of the hugely successful Real Wheels ... There Goes A ... children's home video series. He lives in a home overlooking the Columbia River in Portland. Dave is the President of Dave Hood Entertainment. He runs the company and is the creative force behind DHE, writing, directing, and acting in the movies.
Dave has a long distinguished career in entertainment. Starting in radio at the age of just 18, he has more than 27 years of experience in commercial radio, television, and production. "I am the luckiest guy in the world...I think that I have always succeeded because I've made having fun a business. Producing high quality children's entertainment is the most fun yet. My goal is to create a whole library of children's movies, books, and music that can entertain and educate children for decades to come."Dave's early years (20s) were spent as the number one afternoon drive radio personality at KGW in Portland Oregon. Dave spent almost a decade at KGW before moving to television. At the age of 30 he moved into broadcast television as host and producer of the highly successful and nationally syndicated PM Magazine. For the next10 years he traveled the world and interviewed the rich and famous for the daily show based in San Diego, California. The show offered the opportunity to do some rather unusual things like a mile high free fall while sky diving, white water rafting and wing walking on the upper wing of an antique biplane while it did stunts over the plains of Oklahoma. An avid scuba diver, he shot stories under at least 5 of the world`s major oceans. Dave did it all in the interest of keeping the audience compelled to watch. "In broadcast television, especially on a daily show, you have to grab them at the beginning and then keep them for a half hour...it`s a matter of life and death for your program...we managed to keep PM Magazine compelling for 15 years. I try to bring that experience to everything I do. Maybe that has something to do with why our videos and commercials work so well." Dave started his production company in 1987while still hosting PM Magazine. He Shot commercials on the week-ends and in his spare time. He produced more than 70 projects over a 3 year period. In 1990, when PM left the air after more than 15 years in syndication, Dave left San Diego for Hollywood where he studied acting at the highly respected Charles Conrad Studio in Burbank. At the same time, he was producing stories for and appearing on the Discovery Channel`s Tourific Destinations once again traveling the world from the beaches of the South Pacific to the castles of Spain.
In 1994 Dave decided that he had traveled enough and began to look for something new and challenging for his company to produce. The idea for Live Action Children`s Video was born after looking at the children`s market and discovering mostly cheap animation. "Kids were either watching cartoons or sex and violence filled MTV with their older brothers and sisters. I have nothing against either of those but I don`t think a 3 year old should be watching it. I wanted to create something that would be fun to watch and educational at the same time." So in association with partner Ken Urman at Power To Create and Warner Brothers, The Real Wheels Children's movies were born. Now more than 30 episodes, 7 million in video sales and approximately 80 million dollars in retail sales later, Dave Hood and Dave Hood Entertainment continues to produce family friendly award winning entertainment for children. His products are now distributed all over the world and have won many prestigious awards.
