John Rutsey, a founding member of Rush, passed away over the weekend at age 55. The band’s management company, Anthem Entertainment, confirmed the news yesterday noting his death was caused by complications from diabetes. Rutsey is most famous for appearing on the group’s 1974 debut album, playing drums on the track “In the Mood.” He left Rush soon after, citing his diabetes. Because of his health concerns, Rutsey was unable to tour with the band and was replaced by Neil Peart. As of press time, there had been no comment from the band.
