Frehely: Kiss is getting embarrassing

Original Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley is talking about his solo tour and his old band with StarTribune.com. Frehley slammed Kiss, who are touring with former roadie Tommy Thayer in place of Ace but with the same make-up. Ace said, “The fans don’t seem too happy. What Kiss is doing right now reminds me of like what some great fighters have done in the past when they come out of retirement, when they should have just rolled up the towel. That’s the way it seems to me now. It’s getting embarrassing.” So does Ace think about putting the make-up back on for his solo tour? He responded, “I don’t even think about the make-up. I took the make-up off in 2001 and I really don’t plan to put it back on.” As for his ongoing solo tour, since it’s been ten years since he’s been out on the road, Frehley spoke about how this trek is different. He explained, “For me, things are definitely better because I’m clean and sober now. That puts a different twist on everything. It’s great to wake up without a hangover and not remembering what you did the night before. Life just seems to be getting better all the time.” Ace plays in Cincinnati, Ohio tomorrow night.
