Thursday, September 18, 2008 - Just saw the new Coen Brothers movie “Burn After Reading” and thought I’d give my two cents. This isn’t going to win any Oscars but what a fun ride.
The Coen Brothers follow-up to their Best Oscar Film “No Country For Old Men” from last year is a return to their “quirky” films such as “Raising Arizona” “The Big Lebowski” and “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou”.
“Burn After Reading" stars John Malkovich, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand. To call it a spy caper would be a little misleading, but that’s as close as I can come to describing this one. Known for their plot twists and dark sense of humor, the Coen Brothers really hit a home run this time around.
Don’t expect many Oscar nominations, except maybe Ms. McDormand, but if you’re ready to be entertained, this is really a fun film. It’s rated R so please leave the kids at home.
