Fresh off false rumors that Van Halen had cancelled their tour, there are now new reports that the band had to postpone recent concerts because Eddie Van Halen has fallen off the wagon. A statement released earlier this week revealed that the guitarist was sick and “undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures.” However, according to the National Enquirer, the 53-year-old musician checked himself into a San Antonio rehab center so he could detox for a week after a backstage outburst at his son and bandmate Wolfgang. Sources told the gossip rag that Wolf hates it when his dad drinks and at a recent show, he knew Eddie was drunk onstage. The 17-year-old started acting cold towards his dad which upset the elder Van Halen. The insider explained, “Eddie went berserk and started yanking guitar cables from the pedal boards and throwing cigarettes around onstage. At the end of the concert, Eddie was so mad at Wolf, he punched the amp speaker, knocking it over.” Last year, Eddie spent some time in rehab, delaying the plans for the current comeback tour. |
