Switching over to compact fluorescent light bulbs is a real “no-brainer.” CF bulbs use about ¼ the energy of normal incandescent light bulbs and CF bulbs can last up to 10 times as long as standard bulbs. CF bulbs also produce much less heat.
Today's fluorescent bulbs have come a long way on the aesthetic side. You may think of fluorescent lighting as that harsh light in your college library, but today CF bulbs come in a delightful array of models that produce warm glows and can even be attached to dimming circuits.
