McCartney and Mills can't work it out

While it was expected that Paul McCartney and estranged wife Heather Mills would reach a divorce settlement last week, talks between the two collapsed on Friday, paving the way for a full public trial. The couple spent more than eight hours negotiating on Thursday alone, attempting to hash out the details of what could be the costliest divorce settlement England has ever seen. Macca offered Mills 101-million dollars but, while she was willing to accept a mere 70-million dollars, Mills refused to sign a confidentiality agreement that prevents her from discussing her five-year marriage to the legendary Beatle. An anonymous source told the British paper, The Evening Standard, “It’s finished. There are no more talks planned. The whole thing broke down without an agreement.” The proceedings will go to trial in February where the public will get to hear all the details. Neither Paul nor Heather had any comment for reporters waiting outside of England’s High Court. The two split-up last year. |
