While many people have Neil Young albums in their homes, they might also have Neil Young crawling around their floors. That’s because biologists have named a new species of spider after the singer. East Carolina University professor Jason Bond discovered the new type of trapdoor arachnid and decided to call it Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi. According to the New York Times, Dr. Bond released a statement explaining his choice in name that reads, “There are rather strict rules about how you name new species. As long as these rules are followed, you can give a new species just about any name you please. With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice.”
