Robert Plant Talks About Reunion Gig Future

An interview that Esquire magazine conducted with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant the morning after the band’s December reunion gig has just been published. In it, the singer spoke about his performance as well as his future plans. As for how he thought things went when the group reunited at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert, Plant said, “It was ramshackle, casual, nervous, overblown, a little self-indulgent – it was all the things we ever were.” Robert also revealed that he didn’t warm up before the gig instead opting to “lay in a dark room playing my little ukulele, going: ‘If I was in Mali, it wouldn’t be like this.’” Plant, who will be going on tour with bluegrass artist Allison Krauss talked about playing with Zep more as well. He explained, “I really enjoyed playing with my friends, and we are a lot closer because of it. But the responsibility, the whole deal…it’s a whole different thing to what I’m doing with Alison.” Plant added, “I was singing the same, better, last night. I could go to certain places. But with Alison, it’s not about that. It’s about being comely. That’s where I’m bound.” That tour with Krauss kicks off on April 19th in Louisville, Kentucky.
