Jason Miller is On-Air Monday-Friday 12–5:30 A.M. and is the Producer of the Mark Lindsay Show, Saturdays 7–11 p.m. at the Mark Lindsay Rock n Roll Cafe.
Ever since fifth grade I’ve been infatuated with radio. I was the only one in my class listening to radio dramas from the 1930’s and 40’s, and certainly the only one scared of The Shadow. Despite my love of radio, I was able to keep focused on my studies and graduated from Challenger elementary school. This was my first in a series of educational achievements, as I soon graduated from middle school, high school, and even college.
While in college I studied non-human primates and worked with four chimpanzees (Washoe, Loulis, Dar, and Tatu) who communicated by using American Sign Language. At Central Washington University I studied primatology, psychology, and anthropology, but all of my spare time was spent at the college radio station. I hosted many shows at KCWU under the name DJ Son (get it… D-Jason…it’s o.k., no one got it). My senior year I was promoted from volunteer to the station’s Production Director. I also worked at the only other radio station in Ellensburg, Washington (KXLE) as a board op/weather person extraordinaire under the guise “Gus Chiggins.”
When I graduated, I quickly found no use for my degree. This made radio an easy choice. I moved to Portland in August of 2007 to produce “Mark Lindsay’s Rock and Roll café,” and in addition, I now host the weekday overnight shift. I currently live in the Hawthorne District with Laura, my girlfriend of 4 years, and Frodrick, my female pet leopard gecko. Laura and I love Portland. Frodrick remains undecided.
Life’s good, man…Life’s good.
